Henny Penny
Henny Penny is the story of a chicken that had an acorn fall on her head, but felt that the sky was falling. She went to warn the King of the situation, and along the way picked up numerous friends that wanted to go with her. The group also met a fox named Foxy Woxy. He tricked the group by telling them that he knew a quicker way to the palace. He actually takes them to his cave, where he plans to eat them. Each member of the follows him into the cave one by one. Henny Penny is about to go in when she hears the crow of the rooster who is in the cave being eaten, which tells her that it is time for her to lay her egg. She runs off and is saved from being eaten. This story is a very cute way of telling kids that following the crowd is not always the best way. All the animals followed Henny Penny on her far fetched idea that the sky was falling. In the end they ended up being eaten and the person who led the group escaped from danger. This story is a wonderfully illustrated story and will always be a childhood favorite of mine.
